[ARCHIVED] Fall Disposal Week Set for September 16-21

Bismarck Landfill Free Disposal Sept 16-21, 2024 for Bismarck Residents

The City of Bismarck’s Landfill Disposal Week will run from Monday, September 16, through, Saturday, September 21.

This year’s Fall Disposal Week is in lieu of Fall Cleanup Week. There is a change to what has been offered in the past with this cleanup week as items will no longer be picked up from the curb. Instead, there will be free disposal of items at the landfill, including household hazardous waste and electronics for City of Bismarck residents who can provide a City of Bismarck utility bill or driver’s license showing a Bismarck address.

“We understand this is going to be a change for a part of our population that was used to a certain way of doing things with the Fall Cleanup Week,” said Public Works Service Operations Director Steve Salwei. “But our Landfill and Waste Collection departments are only staffed for normal trash collection. To do curbside collection for a Cleanup Week, we need to rely on our Roads and Streets crews to pick up the extras that week.  This takes time away from their duties of preparing for the upcoming winter season.”

The Bismarck Landfill will be open from 6 AM to 4 PM each day during the Fall Disposal Week. Please note that there is a fee to dispose of tires at the landfill. More information about special disposal fees is available in a PDF on the City of Bismarck website

Traditional garbage pickup will not be impacted by this service. Curbside pickup will not be altered for Bismarck’s Spring Cleanup Week. Additional information about the City of Bismarck’s solid waste operations is available online. A PDF version of the graphic is also available online
