Attempted Murder Charge Pending on Hospitalized Individual

A 21-year-old man is in the hospital this morning with a gunshot wound after allegedly stabbing a 23-year-old in an apartment.  The 23-year-old shot the 21-year-old in what is indicated to be self-defense.

Officers responded to an apartment in the 2600 block of E Ave F around 2:10 am regarding subjects pounding on a door and screaming for help. Around the same time, a call came into Central Dakota Communications regarding a stabbing victim going to a local hospital.

Officers arrived at both locations and located a 21-year-old at the apartment with a gunshot wound to the chest.  The officers found the 23-year-old at a local hospital with stab wounds.  Interviews of witnesses and suspect indicated that the 23-year-old was stabbed multiple times in the abdomen while hanging out at the apartment.  The witnesses indicated that he shot the 21-year-old after being stabbed, indicating he was using self-defense.

Both men were treated at local hospitals and are expected to make recoveries.   Bismarck Police Detectives are working on charging the 21-year-old with Attempted Murder while he awaits surgical procedures at the hospital.  The 21-year-old has not been arrested due to his hospital stay, but we are requesting a warrant for his arrest.
