Bismarck Human Relations Committee Annual Humanitarian Award
BISMARCK, N.D. – The City of Bismarck’s Human Relations Committee is pleased to announce the second recipient of the 2022 Humanitarian Award is Geraldine Ambe. The Humanitarian Award recognizes an individual, organization, or non-profit entity that has demonstrated leadership in the area of human rights. This year the Bismarck Human Relations Committee will recognize Geraldine Ambe at the June 28, 2022, Board of City Commissioners meeting. The Board will meet in the Tom Baker Meeting Room of the City/County Office Building at 221 North 5th Street. The award presentation will occur at the onset of the meeting, which begins at 5:15 PM.
Divine N. Tarla, a Bismarck resident, nominated Geraldine Ambe for her many accomplishments and strong involvement within the community of Bismarck. Ms. Ambe is a human rights activist that advocates against human rights violations, especially in Africa. She believes everyone is born equal, and in order to find solutions for global human rights concerns, we must work with one another and be actively involved in finding those solutions together.
Additionally, Ms. Ambe has recently started a dance group with members of a Bible study class called Youth in Action. Though it began as a dance group, Youth in Action gives kids from different parts of the world a sense of belonging, where they can come together, express themselves in a safe environment, and share their culture in the community they now call home.
The mission of the Bismarck Human Relations Committee is to protect and promote the personal dignity of all Bismarck citizens and eliminate any discriminatory barriers that prevent them from reaching their full human potential.
