[ARCHIVED] BBPH Schedules Pediatric COVID Vaccine Clinic for November 9

Vaccine MapBismarck-Burleigh Public Health (BBPH) will be conducting a pediatric drive through COVID-19 vaccine clinic at the Bismarck Event Center.

Appointment times are available on Tuesday, November 9, from 3:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. Walk-in appointments are not available for this clinic. If you are unable to attend this clinic and would like to set up an appointment for a vaccination at our 500 East Front location, or have any questions, please contact BBPH at (701) 355-1540 for more information.

This clinic will be conducted in the Bismarck Event Center Arena. Individuals attending the drive through clinic are asked enter the clinic by way of Parking Lot D off Seventh Street. During their time in the Event Center Arena, everyone is asked to wear a mask. Please bring your appropriate insurance cards to the appointment.

The Pfizer vaccine will be used for this clinic. This vaccine was authorized on November 2 for children and adolescents aged 5 and older, as a two-dose series taken three weeks apart. While children and adolescents are typically at lower risk than adults of becoming severely ill or hospitalized from COVID-19, it is still possible.

“The Pfizer vaccine for children 5 to 11 years of age is the first pediatric COVID vaccine authorized for use in this country and it is a game changer in the battle against COVID-19”, said Renae Moch, BBPH Director. “There are many parents anxious to get their children vaccinated to protect them from severe illness and reduce the spread of virus to others. We look forward to giving parents the opportunity to get their children vaccinated especially before everyone gathers together over the holidays.”

Presently, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends that all children aged five and older get a COVID-19 vaccine. Vaccination remains the best and safest way to protect someone from COVID-19. Side effects to COVID-19 vaccines are typically mild and symptoms such as arm soreness, fatigue, headaches or a slight fever subdue in one or two days. While rare instances of myocarditis have been linked to COVID-19 vaccines, data is demonstrating a higher risk for such inflammation among younger males following a COVID-19 infection, versus receipt of a vaccine dose. If you have specific questions about myocarditis, COVID-19 or vaccines, speak to your health care provider or pediatrician.
