[ARCHIVED] Bismarck Fire Department responds to garage fire | Occupants temporarily displaced

Residential Fire Update

At approximately 10:30 AM on Monday, March 22, the Central Dakota Communications Center received a report of a fire in the garage of a home located on the 400 block of North 25th Street. The Bismarck Fire Department was dispatched to investigate. The first arriving fire crew found the occupants evacuated from the home, with heavy smoke and fire showing from the garage.


The fire crew established command and deployed hose lines to attack the fire. Additional fire crews arrived on scene and assisted with fire suppression, securing a water supply, and utilities. After the fire was extinguished an overhaul operation was conducted to find any remaining hot spot, and the house was ventilated of smoke.  


Six fire department apparatus and 19 fire fighters were dispatched to the scene. The Bismarck Police Department assisted with scene control. MDU assisted with securing utilities. Metro Area Ambulance transported one occupant to the hospital, where they treated for a burn injury and released. There were no injuries to first responders. The occupants of the home have been temporarily displaced. The Crisis Care Chaplaincy contacted the American Red Cross to provide support for the family.


There was heavy fire damage to the interior of the home, and limited fire damage to the story above. There was smoke damage throughout the garage and to the interior of the home.  A fire investigation was conducted and the cause was determined to be accidental in nature.
