At approximately 9:30 PM on Friday, December 11th, 2020 the Central Dakota Communications Center received report of smoke coming from the main floor of the over and under style twin-home as reported by a neighbor. The home, located on the 1200 block of North 4th Street, was reported to have smoke and fire showing. The Bismarck Fire Department was dispatched, along with the Bismarck Police Department and Metro Ambulance.
Upon arrival crews stated that they had smoke with some fire showing on the main floor, west side of the structure. It was reported that all occupants of both units were believed to be out of the home.
The fire crew established command and pulled lines to begin extinguishing the fire and to search the residence. As other fire crews arrived they were assigned to secure a water supply, pull additional lines to attack the fire and shut down utilities to the home. Primary and secondary searches were conducted and confirmed that occupants were out of the home at the time of the fire. Once the fire was extinguished, an overhaul operation was conducted to find any remaining hot spots.
There were no injuries to any civilians or fire personnel, four residents from both units of the home have been displaced. Chaplaincy Service was on scene to assist with personal needs and lodging of residents in need.
Six fire department apparatus and 19 fire fighters were dispatched to the scene. The Bismarck Police Department assisted with scene control. Metro Area Ambulance was on scene to provide medical support. MDU assisted with securing utilities. There were no injuries to any occupants or first responders. There was substantial fire and smoke damage to the interior of the structure on the main floor. An investigation is currently being conducted to determine the fire origin and cause. Cause of the fire remains under investigation.
