[ARCHIVED] The City of Bismarck Launches Strategic Planning Project

Mayor John Warford announced today that the City of Bismarck is launching the start of a Strategic Planning process. “We cannot rest on our laurels. When you look at how we are positioned on the fringe of energy, our workforce and new home construction, I think we are on the cusp of greatness”, said Warford. “I want our city to continue to be proactive in our vision looking towards the future. It’s time to take a fresh look at where we are and what our plans are for the future.”

The strategic planning process will begin with a focus on effectively engaging citizens in the strategic planning process. A series of meetings to seek input from citizens and city employees will be held. The first meeting, an opportunity for business community stakeholders, March 17, 1 – 3:00 p.m., Bismarck Public Library, Meeting Room A. Next, a citizen input meeting March 17, 7 – 9:30 p.m., Bismarck Public Library, Meeting Room A. A second citizen input meeting will be held, Saturday, March 19, 10:00 - 11:30 a.m., Bismarck Public Library, Meeting Room A. “We want to engage citizens more fully in planning and decisions for our City’s future”, said Commissioner Josh Askvig. “We want to engage in active conversations with citizens throughout the planning process.” One of the ways city officials plan to reach citizens in addition to public meetings is through the active use of the City web site and social media – the City’s Facebook and Twitter pages, both to inform and gain feedback from the entire community. The City Facebook and Twitter links can be found at www.bismarck.org You can sign-up for Facebook or just click “like” and become a follower to get updates or give input through Facebook. If you prefer you can just check the City web site home page “Spotlight” where you will also have the opportunity to periodically provide input throughout the process.
