[ARCHIVED] City of Bismarck Celebrates North Dakota City Government Week April 3-7

During the week of April 3-7, the City of Bismarck will join other cities across North Dakota in celebrating City Government Week.  This week is set aside each year to recognize the city’s contributions to a better quality of life in North Dakota and also the many services that local governments provide citizens.

City government is truly government of, by and for the people.  Individuals who make the decisions about our communities are neighbors, business owners and community leaders.  City government is administered for and by its citizens and is dependent upon public commitment to carry out its responsibilities.  “It is a responsibility that we take very seriously”, said Mayor Mike Seminary.

“During this week, we want to recognize the role city government plays in our lives; from trash collection to public safety to promoting the area’s culture, business and recreation,” said Mayor Seminary. “Please join us in recognizing City Government Week and learn more about your city and how it operates which, in turn, will lead to more knowledgeable citizen engagement and participation.”
