[ARCHIVED] Robert Ritterbush to Address Historical Society Sept. 14

The Bismarck Historical Society is delighted to introduce its 2016-2017 lecture series with a fascinating presentation by Bismarck Architect Robert H. Ritterbush, who will discuss the historical relationship between architecture and the development of Bismarck.

The program will start at 6:30 P.M. on Wednesday, September 14, 2016, in Lecture Room A of the Bismarck Veterans Memorial Public Library, located at 515 North Fifth Street. The event is open to the public, admission is free and reservations are not required.

Architecture being one of those physical traits that can help define and explain a community and its history; it is useful to study the architectural history of a community in trying to truly understand the community. Mr. Ritterbush, who has practiced his profession for more than 50 years, is part of a firm that has provided architectural services to Bismarck since 1883 when first started by Arthur Van Horn. Over the past 133 years the firm has designed, re-designed, or remodeled literally countless buildings of many styles, functions, purposes in Bismarck and across the nation.

The program will discuss the Van Horn legacy as well as the Ritterbush legacy which started in 1920 when Clarence and Robert A. Ritterbush joined Mr. Van Horn to form the Van Horn-Ritterbush firm.
