[ARCHIVED] Portion of East Main Avenue Closed Due to Fatal Crash

A portion of East Main Avenue is temporarily closed while Bismarck Police investigate a fatality crash. East Main Avenue is closed from Bismarck Expressway to N 52nd Street. Public Works is in the process of putting up barricades. It is expected those streets will remain closed to traffic for at least the next several hours. Motorist should find alternative routes east out of Bismarck.

Today at 3:59 p.m., Bismarck Police responded to a report of a crash that occurred at the 4000 block of East Main Avenue, which is the entrance to Buckstop Junction. A motorcycle was eastbound on Main Avenue when it collided with an SUV that was also eastbound but making a U-Turn at the Buckstop Junction entrance. The operator of the motorcycle was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. The victim is a 33 year old male. The name of the victim is being withheld pending notification of next of kin. The female driver of the SUV was not injured. The case is under investigation.
