At 4:01 PM on Sunday, December 21, the Bismarck Fire Department responded to a report of an asphalt paving machine that was on fire in the Northern Improvement lot at 3320 E Century Ave.
The first arriving officer gave an initial report of a paving machine that was fully involved in fire. He indicated the machine was not close to the buildings. The fire crew made an aggressive attack with handlines and the fire was brought under control within three minutes. The fire was declared under control at 16:09 PM.
There was heavy fire damage in the engine compartment of the machine. The machine appeared to be a total loss with a value of approximately $300,000.00. The cause of the fire appeared to be electrical.
