[ARCHIVED] Bismarck Fire Department Responds to Shed Fire

At 1:07 PM, on Tuesday, June 3rd, 2014, the Bismarck Fire Department responded to a report of a shed on fire on the 5100 block of Sumter Circle in Bismarck. Three engine companies responded, with 12 firefighters. On arrival, they found a yard shed fully involved in fire, with two residences and a detached garage in close vicinity.

Firefighters attacked the fire with a 1¾” hose, and extinguished the fire, while protecting the exposed buildings. The shed and its’ contents were completely destroyed. There was substantial heat damage to the vinyl siding on the nearby garage, the home, and a neighbor’s home.
One resident was home, and reported hearing a loud noise prior to looking out the window and seeing the fire. He called 911 to report the fire. Residents of the damaged neighboring home were not home at the time of the fire. None of the residents of either home were displaced as a result of the fire.

Preliminary fire loss estimate to the shed and its contents, along with the two other homes and the garage, is estimated at $30,000. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. There were no injuries to the resident who was home, or to the firefighters who responded.
