The Bismarck Fire Dept., N.D. National Guard 81st Civil Support Team, Bismarck Rural Fire, Dickinson Fire and the Mandan Fire Departments will train side by side in a training exercise today that involves a simulated terrorist event involving release chemical agents.
The exercise is designed to test joint response and communications; terminate a hazardous materials release; rescue and mass decontamination; down range sampling and air monitoring; and to project the size of a hazardous material release and its movement based upon weather conditions.
The exercise will take place at the University of Mary, Bismarck today. You can expect to see rescue, decontamination, medical activity, responders outfitted in turnout and hazmat gear along with the response equipment and vehicles. This is an exercise. Citizens should be aware that this is an exercise and there is no reason to be alarmed.
