The Bismarck Police Department offers a convenient way to report minor incidents through an online service available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. It's the Bismarck Police Department Citizen Online Reporting System.
The the Citizen Online Reporting System allows you to make the report when it's convenient for you. You don't have to wait for an officer or go to the police station. It's easy for even the most novice computer user, and it allows the department to reallocate limited resources to proactively focus on crime trends and decrease response time for priority calls.
The types of incidents you can report online are identity theft, lost property, theft including theft from motor vehicle, vandalism and vehicle vandalism. If however your vehicle damage is caused by an unknown vehicle, that is a hit and run, and report must be filed directly with the Bismarck Police Department.
To determine if online filing is for you:
. It is not an emergency. If it is an emergency, please call
9-1-1.
. The incident occurred within Bismarck city limits.
. There are no known suspects.
. It did not occur on a state freeway.
If you answered yes to all of the above, you are ready to file your report online. Go to www.bismarck.org, click on "I want to." and then on "File a Police Report Online." Follow the prompts and enter the appropriate information. Once you have completed your police report, you will:
. See "Your online police report has been submitted," which means your
police report is complete.
. Be given a police report case number.
. Be able to print a copy of the police report to keep for your
records.
All cases filed using the online system will be reviewed. If further investigation of your case is needed, you may be contacted.
