[ARCHIVED] Man Arrested Seven Days After Release from Jail

An 18-year-old Bismarck man is back in jail on theft related offenses today after being out of jail for only seven days.   He was given credit for serving 35 days in Burleigh Morton Detention Center with two years of probation on a felony and four misdemeanors and released on November 20, 2023.

          

          Gauge Johnson is accused of stealing a Buick Lacrosse from an address in south Bismarck on the 26th of November around 7:30 in the morning.   That car is valued at approximately $10,400.  While officers investigated the theft, that car was located near the 1500 block of East Bismarck Expressway.  A traffic stop was attempted, but the vehicle allegedly fled from officers at an estimated speed of 90 mph.  The officer that tried to stop the vehicle identified the driver as Johnson.

 

          Johnson was found in the 400 block of South 14th Street around 10:30 am and taken into custody for the alleged offenses of Theft of a Motor Vehicle and Fleeing an Officer in a Motor Vehicle.  He is being held at Burleigh Morton Detention Center awaiting a scheduled initial appearance today at 2:30 pm.
