[ARCHIVED] City of Bismarck Releases Online Media Kit

Commissioner Media Kit PageThe City of Bismarck released the first version of its online media kit. The project was a joint venture between the City of Bismarck and the Graphic Design program at United Tribes Technical College (UTTC).

“Our hope is the media kit will serve as a bit of a road map for new reporters, or anyone really, who is engaging with Bismarck’s municipal government,” said Bismarck Communications Strategist Kalen Ost. “This is meant to be a living document that grows and changes with the organization.”

UTTC Graphic Design Instructor Colleen Bredahl and students Telsa Belcourt and Anjeni Del Real collaborated with City staff during the spring semester of 2023 to complete the project’s content gathering and design concept phases.

“I can’t thank Colleen, Telsa and Anjeni enough for the work they devoted to this project. Without their horsepower and creativity, this media kit would not exist,” said Ost. “I think they really helped us produce an exceptional product. I hope this media kit serves Telsa and Anjeni as a tangible example of their ability, adaptability and drive, as they build their professional careers.”

The media kit has nine sections and is just shy of 100 pages:

  • Bismarck’s History
  • City Commission
  • Department Overviews & Staff
  • Department Directory
  • Boards and Committees
  • Community Partners
  • City Facts and Figures
  • Brand Guidelines
  • Websites and Media

Ost has spent the past few weeks working with staff to get photos to complete the project and perform final edits. The media kit will be available online.
