[ARCHIVED] Bismarck and Burleigh County Observe National Building Safety Month

The City of Bismarck and Burleigh County join communities across the nation recognizing Building Safety Month. When you enter a house or building, most likely you assume that it was properly constructed and safe. Fortunately, your local safety experts work hard to assure building safety and fire prevention every day. To help raise public awareness of building safety, the City of Bismarck Building Division observes Building Safety Month in May. “Ensuring buildings are safe requires the active participation of building inspectors, contractors, architects, engineers, and others in the construction industry, as well as property owners”, said Ray Ziegler, City of Bismarck Building official.

Building safety and fire prevention codes address all aspects of construction, such as structural soundness of buildings, reliability of fire prevention and suppression systems, plumbing and mechanical systems, and energy efficiency and fire prevention.

“Public safety is our number one concern. When building safety and fire prevention experts inspect buildings during and after construction, we help to ensure that the places where you live, learn, work, worship and play are safe,” said Ziegler. During Building Safety Month and all year long building safety and fire prevention officials are here to, help protect you, your family and our community.

Building Safety Month is sponsored by the International Code Council, a membership organization dedicated to building safety and fire prevention, of which Bismarck is an active member. For more information visit www.bismarck.org/buildinginspections
