Happy Birthday, Bismarck! The annual birthday
celebration sponsored by the Bismarck Historical Society and the State
Historical Society of North Dakota, and which is traditionally celebrated in
May had to be postponed this year until now! And now is the time to come on
out join in the celebration!
The
party will be held at the North Dakota Heritage Center and State Museum on
Tuesday, July 11th beginning at 5:00 P.M. and continue until 8:00 P.M. Three hours of displays, demonstrations, games, informative talks and activities for all ages. And, of course, the all important birthday cake. All open to the public with no admission charge.
The theme of the party this year is “Agriculture is Always in the News” and among the participants are the following: Papa’s Pumpkin Patch, Bismarck Garden Club, the Day Lily Club, Burleigh County Centennial Farms, Faulkner’s Market, Agriculture in the Classroom, The Bismarck Veterans Memorial Public Library, and Project Grow. Activities will include a craft and coloring room, a scavenger hunt in the main galleries, access to the “Treehouse” and more.
This Founders Day will also mark the end of the
Collectable Historic Button Contest that has been a feature of Founders Day for the past five years. Therefore, everyone who has collected all
five buttons and who wishes to enter the grand prize contest should bring the
collected five buttons, attractively or cleverly displayed and submit them to
the judging table in the Missouri River Event Center near the west entrance to
the Heritage Center.
