At 12:04 PM on Sunday, March 13, the Bismarck Fire Department responded to a report of smoke in a mobile home in Bismarck at 725 S 12th St. The first arriving crew gave an initial report of no smoke showing, established command and proceeded to investigate. Command interviewed the home owner and was told that there had been a fire and that they had put it out. Command verified extinguishment and surveyed the scene. The fire likely started as a result of electrical wiring and asked for MDU to respond. MDU discovered multiple electrical issues and disconnected power to the building. The homeowner had minor burns on his hands and did not seek medical treatment. The family was displaced and the Bismarck Fire Department Chaplain was contacted to assist the family.
The Bismarck Fire Department reminds everyone that when performing home repairs, be sure to acquire the appropriate permits and have a licensed professional perform the work.
