BISMARCK, ND - At 3:12 AM on Tuesday, September 15, 2015, the Bismarck Fire Department responded to a report of a fire at the steamboat display at Steamboat Park on River Road. The fire department had also responded to a fire in this structure last Friday morning.
The first arriving officer gave an initial report that there was a small amount of fire in the bow area of the boat. The fire crew advanced a hose line and extinguished the fire.
Previously the value of the steamboat was set at approximately $15,000.00. The damage on the first fire was estimated at $5,000.00. There was little additional damage caused by this second fire.
Investigation of the fire found no obvious sources of ignition. The fire has been determined suspicious in nature and the cause is undetermined. There were no injuries reported at this incident.
