[ARCHIVED] Bismarck Historical Society to Honor Women in Politics March 11

For the past several months, the Bismarck Historical Society has recounted the dedication and courage and sacrifice of some of our state and local heroes who have faced the perils of war to protect and preserve our liberty and cherished values.

Now, in recognition of National Women’s History Month, the Bismarck Historical Society will honor the dedication and courage and sacrifice of another group of state and local heroes who have sought to not only preserve, but also to broaden, our freedoms and cherished values by challenging and opening the way into the once largely male-dominated world of political action. The way was not always easy and change was often slow to come sometimes at considerable personal cost.

On Wednesday, March 11, 6:30 pm, at the Bismarck Veterans’ Memorial Public Library, Ms. Rene Stromme, Executive Director of the North Dakota Women’s Network, will present a talk on “The History of Women in Elected Office in North Dakota” in which she will introduce the stories of a number of North Dakota women who have influenced the quality of life in this state by challenging the status quo of the political processes.

This program promises to be an eye-opening and inspirational wake-up call to anyone who wants to help make things better but who believes that that one small voice can’t make a difference.

The public is invited. Refreshments will be served. Reservations are not required.
