[ARCHIVED] Bismarck Fire Department responds to dryer fire at My Place Motel in Bismarck; no injuries

At 12:38 pm, April 27, the Bismarck Fire Department responded to a fire alarm at My Place Motel on 2640 Centennial Road. Upon arrival firefighters found heavy smoke throughout the main floor and people evacuating the structure. An employee stated that there were towels burning in a clothes dryer.

Firefighters removed the towels from the dryer and extinguished them; the fire was confined to the
dryer. The fire department used high volume fans and natural wind to ventilate the smoke. Twelve
firefighters responded to the fire; no one was injured. The fire department was on scene for about one hour.

Preliminary fire and smoke loss estimate is $10,000.

The Bismarck Fire Department would like to remind you to clean your dryer and dryer vent from lint on a regular basis.
