[ARCHIVED] Public Hearing for Bismarck Growth Management Plan

The City of Bismarck Community Development department is pleased to announce that the update of the Growth Management Plan for the area within and surrounding the City is nearing completion. Since the development of the previous Plan in 2003, the City has experienced an unprecedented level of household and employment growth that is anticipated to continue well into the future, which has necessitated this update.

A public hearing of the Plan will be held at the regularly scheduled monthly meeting of the Planning & Zoning Commission on the evening of Wednesday, March 26, 2014 in the Tom Baker Room of the City County Building at 221 N. 5th Street, beginning at 5:00 pm. The meeting will be available for online viewing and replay after the meeting at www.freetv.org, Dakota Media Access Government Access TV, Cable Channel 2.

The Community Development Department has overseen the update of the Growth Management Plan over the course of 2013, and now proposes it for approval by the Planning and Zoning Commission, and adoption as a component of the City’s Master Plan.

The 2014 Growth Management Plan Update includes a proposed Future Land Use Plan and Phasing Plan, potential mechanisms for funding public infrastructure, and implementation techniques and management controls. A copy of the draft Plan is available on the project website www.bismarckgrowthplan.com for download and review. We welcome comments and feedback from the public via Email, on the project website, by fax (701) 222-2450 or at one of the telephone numbers listed below.
