The Bismarck Police Department would like to address an email that has been circulating for the past week that has caused undue alarm and concern. The email mentions gang activity, women being attacked while walking through the parking lot of certain stores, and other crimes that have been occurring in the Bismarck area. It needs to be stressed that this email contains misinformation and should not be viewed as a reliable source concerning crime in Bismarck. Although everyone is encouraged to always be aware of their surroundings and take whatever precautions deemed necessary for their own personal protection, nothing has occurred recently that should create a heightened state of awareness or concern pertaining to one’s personal safety. We would ask that if anyone receives this email that they do not forward it to anyone else in an effort to keep the information it contains from spreading any further.
