What You Should Know When You Come to Court 

Before you Come to Court

• The court may provide language and sign interpreters for individuals appearing in court. Contact the Clerk of Court’s Office in advance if you or someone you know will need these services.
• A public defender provides legal counsel for indigent defense services. If you require assistance from a defense attorney, you may call 701-328-7190 or email Bismarck-Mandan Public Defender Office You may also visit the North Dakota Legal Counsel for Indigents for information, guidelines and applications. 
• Be on time.
• Check in with Court Clerks. 

Court Schedule

Court is in session every Monday and Wednesday.  

• From 8 to 9 a.m. Arraignments/first appearances.
• 8:15 a.m. Order to Show Cause/Parking.
• 9 a.m. in custody appearances.
• 10 a.m. Court Trials.
• Friday 9 a.m. in custody appearances.

Persons appearing on a warrant must be in court between 7:30 and 8 a.m. Persons arriving after 8 a.m. will not be seen by the Judge. 

Court Rules

Cell phones, pagers, and other electronic devices must be turned off.

You cannot wear hats or caps in the courtroom.

• No food or beverage is allowed in the courtroom.

No cameras or other recording devices are allowed in the courtroom.
