Summer Reading
Children and teens in Bismarck and Burleigh County are invited to participate in the 2022 Summer Reading program - Oceans of Possibilities, from June 3-July 31, 2022.
Summer Reading will be logged solely through the Beanstack web site or app this summer. Patrons who are already registered with accounts in Beanstack will find the program listed when they log in. Those patrons who aren't registered in Beanstack yet can do so by downloading the Beanstack app from the app store or by clicking here to get started: https://bismarcklibrary.beanstack.com/reader365
From birth through 12th grade, youth will log minutes of reading either individually or with a caregiver. Prizes can be earned by reaching prescribed levels: a Gifted Bean treat at 1000 minutes; sponsorship of an animal at Dakota Zoo at 3000 minutes. Those who complete the 3000-minute goal in the program are also eligible for a prize drawing at the end of the summer.
All participants who read throughout the 2 months are eligible to receive the Bank of North Dakota College SAVE Summer Reading Champion award. Details will be provided.

Summer Reading Kickoff: Friday, June 3 from 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
Join us on the Library Plaza to enjoy some fresh air and peppy music as we kick off the summer reading season. This year's theme is Oceans of Possibilities, and we know that readers of all ages can find a sea of possibilities within the Library, through print, audiovisual, and electronic resources. Our event this year focuses on helping readers register through Beanstack, our online reading program platform. We'll also have temporary tattoos, bookmarks, and our famous button-making station where participants can design their own buttons. Teen HQ will be open for visiting, and the Burleigh County Bookmobile will be parked in the lot so visitors can hop on and look around. We hope you can stop by to enjoy some fun with us at the Library.
