Welcome to the Missouri River Room This room is not a general meeting room. It is intended to provide for historical research in a controlled environment during library hours. Any individual or small group with research objectives may schedule such usage at the Reference Desk (phone: 355-1480) at least three days in advance.
COLLECTIONS This room is designated for the purpose of housing special collections and objects of historical significance to the northern Missouri River area and to North Dakota. Initial holdings will be transferred from existing library collections. All items, unless otherwise specified in a future collection use agreement, will be identified for electronic security. Fragile items will be handled following general archival procedures. A major collection housed in the Missouri River Room is the Lidstrom Custer collection graciously donated by Dr. Kermit Lidstrom.
Future additions will be determined by the following criteria:
Outright gift collections of a total size in excess of twenty-five items will be added only following approval of the Library Board. Any agreement allowing transfer of any special collection(s) and authorized control by this Library for a specified period will be approved in advance by the Library Board.
ROOM USE This room will have key-controlled access, scheduled at the main Reference Desk (phone: 355-1480), for research purposes only. The room is patrolled by a video camera. Each user will sign in and out in a ledger maintained for this purpose. All users in scheduled groups will also sign the use ledger. No food or drink is permitted.
HANDLING OF MATERIALS Because of the fragile condition of some stored library materials, use of special gloves and other procedures may be required. |
