Build a Better World...at the Bismarck Public Library! The Teen Summer Reading Program begins on Friday, June 2 and runs through Friday, July 28. To kick things off, join us at the Summer Reading Celebration at the ND Heritage Center on Friday, June 2. There will be lots of cool things to see and do, and you can sign up for summer reading there.
Throughout the summer, stop in to Teen Headquarters to see what's going on. The schedule of special programming is on our calendar of events and downloadable in a brochure below. For the schedule of walk-in hours at HQ, click here: Headquarters.
This year's reading program is sponsored by gifts from Kroll's Diner Bismarck Marathon and The Tom and Frances Leach Foundation. We are grateful for all of our sponsors and supporters who have offered reading prizes and other support: The Bismarck Library Foundation, Inc., The Friends of the Bismarck Public Library, Gateway to Science, ND Council on the Arts, American Bank Center, Juke Joint Comics, Sleepy Hollow Theatre and Arts Park, Big Boy, and Scotty's Drive-In.
The 2017 Summer Reading Celebration at the ND Heritage Center is a free event open to the public of all ages. This annual community tradition provides fun activities for youth, a low-cost meal, and the opportunity to register for the summer reading program at your local library. Bismarck and Morton Mandan public libraries, as well as the Burleigh County Bookmobile and Morton Mandan Bookmobile, will be in attendance. The event is spread throughout the ND Heritage Center and ND State Library grounds. It runs from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Friday, June 2.
A major highlight for this year is our special guest at the event, Lego Artist Dan Parker. You will have a chance to play with Lego bricks and talk to a master builder.
For more information, you can download the brochure with the timeline of activities. Please call the library if you have questions.
